The elite assassin Terez trained for years in secret under the auspices of the Lasir Royal Family, ever ready to be aimed wherever Duke Nicklaus deemed necessary. Terez’s most important, and in some ways last assignment, came as the Duke’s watchful eye began to turn inward toward his second-in-command, High Priestess Valeria. Politics in the duchy had taken on a markedly different tone thanks to the new court favorite. Determining Valeria’s loyalties had become a matter of state security, important enough to warrant the involvement of Lasir’s finest assassin.

The crafty Terez was quickly discovered by the even craftier Valeria, who took immediate steps to foil the Duke’s hapless attempt at subterfuge. Terez was lured to a Soulplunder cave brimming with Dark energy. Despite his best efforts, the poor assassin was quickly surrounded and succumbed to the wicked flames.

Now Terez is but a shell of his former self: body disfigured, memories mostly destroyed, a puppet at Valeria’s fingertips. It’s only during those rare moments when Terez gains the freedom to look out across the horizon at the busy streets of the city he once called home that he feels a twinge of sadness in his heart, an unexplained longing for what he once was.
