Bio
Biography Variant 1 (ZBT).
The “Bladedancer” honorific is only applied to the most talented, agile elven warriors, and must be earned through feats of extraordinary skill in battle. Earendil is one such “Bladedancer”, having earned the title at a remarkably young age. Earendil spent his youth under the tutelage of Kalandar the Brave, a distinguished Bladedancer of the previous generation, and it is perhaps this lifelong exposure that has gifted Earendil with the Headship over the Elven Bladedancer Order and a captaincy in the Elven Vanguard, responsible for intercepting and fending off invaders attempting to gain a foothold in the Elven Heartland.
A strong willed elf of a hardy temperament, Earendil’s love of and fascination with Antinua, another captain, has revealed something of his softer side. Earendil has often found his skills helpless against Antinua’s agile mind, and her inscrutable displeasure will injure Earendil’s heart much more than an enemy’s blade.
Biograghy Variant 2.
Earendil is a highly accomplished elven warrior and captain of the Phoenix Guard, the Phoenix King’s personal contingent of bodyguards answerable to Virgil himself and to which only the finest elvish warriors of bow and blade may be admitted. Earendil is regarded among his people as a “Bladedancer”, an honorific only applied to the most talented and magically sensitive elven swordmasters capable of learning the ancient ways.
The Bladedancer wields his weapon with such skill, refinement, and purpose as to issue sparks of magical light to strike enemies down, a feat mastered by very few warriors throughout elven history and their crowning achievement. Earendil is famous among his people for his utter devotion to the way the sword, which has allowed him to practice the “Light Dancer” form of elven swordmastery with a special blade imbued with powerful magic by the smiths of Phoenix Mountain before its destruction – the Sword of Return. Although an elf of great renown, Earendil is strangely humble, and in a legendary exchange with his Phoenix King initially denied the promotion to captain of the guard, an honor Virgil only managed to confer on the humble Earendil with further insistence.
Although Earendil and the guards under his command well-distinguished themselves during the frequent wars that were an unhappy feature of that part of elven history, Virgil himself was gravely wounded and fell into a long slumber, following which Earendil has taken on something of a de facto leadership position amongst the elven community alongside their legendary High Priestess Mytheasia.
Earendil’s efforts during the long period of peace enjoyed subsequent to King Virgil’s slumber have been partially occupied by his enigmatic fellow elvish captain, Antinua, a figure of some attraction for Earendil but against whose mind he has often found his skills rather helpless.
